But before that, according to The Daily Express, it is in dicussion that Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor, might make a cameo with Matt Smith, the newly announced 11th Doctor, after having left the role 28 years ago. Which would be AMAZING. David Tennant brought sex appeal (marry me, david!) and mainstream popularity to the role, but Tom Baker definitely made the Doctor an icon and I love him! Only Tom Baker can make a 20 foot multi-coloured scarf, curly hair and jelly babies cool beyond belief. Which brings him to a firm second place on my list of favourite Doctors, behind David Tennant and in front of Christopher Eccleston. Jon Pertwee can be my fourth, but only because he was the Doctor who got to mention Singapore in "The Carnival of Monsters".
Anyways, yes. So the easter special entitled Planet of the Dead is OFFICIALLY being broadcast on the Sunday, April 12th 2009 (although it's previewing in like 3 special venues on April 10th). AHHH. I wish I had one of those adam sandler click remotes right now so I could skip ahead. And it wouldn't even matter that then I would just be like skipping ahead all the time to doctor who episodes because that's like my dream life. Lol. Watching Doctor Who and drinking Yeo's soya bean (maybe they'll sponser me with a lifetime supply now that I've advertised for them. Either that or they'll sue me for using their name without permission).BBC's released description:
When a London bus takes a detour to an alien world, the Doctor must join forces with the extraordinary Lady Christina, in this one-off seasonal special. But the mysterious planet holds terrifying secrets, hidden in the sand. And time is running out, as the deadly Swarm gets closer.
Planet Of The Dead features David Tennant as the Doctor, Michelle Ryan as Lady Christina and Lee Evans as Malcolm and is written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts.
And there they are:
David Tennant
Tennant and Michelle Ryan (It's almost ridiculous how good they both manage to look in a long coat/a black skin tight outfit and shades.) People are saying that she might be the next assistant for the 5th series.

By the way, look at the scale of the desert set behind them. I find that incredible. That since the revival of the series it's done so amazingly well they've gone from dodgy CGI and cheap lighting tricks to being able to fly the whole production to Dubai to shoot a 60min special.

The beginning of the River Song story is apparently being unveiled in this episode as well, which has been killing me since the Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead episodes. I love them! Like Russell T. Davies says in the podcast commentary (for those of you who are STILL reading at this point, it just keeps getting worse and worse, doesn't it. Doctor who PODCASTS. Make her stop please, make her stop. Haha.) she makes him "just a man". David Tennant's face when she says his name!!! Breaks my heart. And also, I'm a sucker for those time traveller's wife type stories. I hate that he knows exactly when and how it ends even before they've started. Yes, yes, deep down I'm a romantic sentimental marshmallowy type idealist.
I don't think I've seen the Tritovores anywhere yet, but Russell T. Davies apparently says they're going to be disgusting and that he's going to put them in other three specials left as well. Apparently they're aiming to get Tritovores up there with Daleks and Cybermen as an "iconic arch nemesis type alien species" of the Doctor. We'll see. That's a pretty big claim, and I'm excited about it but I'm undecided if I think they're gonna pull it off or not so I'm just going to wait until the episodes.
Speaking of aliens, I was on The Medusa Cascade, which is another Doctor Who sort of news-source-gallery website, and there was a particular article there that caught my eye:
March 25, 2009 - Your chance to star as an alien on Doctor Who
Not normally known for its science fiction output, BBC One's Tonight's The Night TV programme will be running a competition for a viewer to take part in a Doctor Who scene and work with the Doctor Who production team.
This scene will be broadcast in the final episode of Tonight's The Night in April/May 2009 (subject to scheduling) and the winner will take a starring role – as an alien.
John Barrowman, told the Nest: “This is a fantastic opportunity and I can't wait to see the winner experience performing on the set of Doctor Who.”
Viewers over 18 are invited to submit an application featuring a photograph of them in their home-made alien costume, along with information about their alien, such as where it's from and its characteristics. A group of 50 applicants will be selected to meet a panel including John Barrowman and Doctor Who casting director, Andy Pryor. From these fifty, ten will be carried through to a final elimination. One applicant will win a trip to the Doctor Who set to work with the Doctor Who production team.
Hosted by Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman, Tonight's The Night helps ordinary people live out their performing fantasies by duetting with a favourite pop group, singing with a band or the cast of a West End musical.
The competition is open to people in the UK over 18 and applications close on Saturday 28th March 2009.
I thought the part about having to dress up as a home-made alien was super funny. Particularly since the competition is clearly for adults (note the part about being over 18 year old). LOL. Although my ridicule may really just be sour-grape syndrome resentment at the fact that I couldn't enter the competition myself, blow everyone's minds with my awesome alien, WIN and then get on the set of the Doctor Who.
I realise that after all this, probably no one will understand a single word of this, but I can't help that I'm a closet Doctor Who fan. Well, not closet really. It's just there's no one to talk to me about it. :( Wow, I just wrote like 5 times what I would normally write about my day about a single episode of a sci-fi series that hasn't even aired.
Haha. I love being a geek.
